»PARADIVING« ON PARALYMPIC GAMES IN SOCHI

As part of the Paralympic winter games in Sochi has International Association for Handicapped Divers Adriatic (IAHD Adriatic) between March 13 and March 16 2014 presented recreational SCUBA diving for handicapped divers.
Slovene people have, after invitation of Russian federation for sport of handicapped people (PCCИ), by presentation of diving method IDA and by cooperation at paraolympic games in skiing represented a small part of paraolympic games. The method IDA, that was developed by Slovenes in past 20 years enables fast, effective and safe introduction into diving, that was for many years reserved only for people without physical or mental restrains. The presentation was well visited and very successful, since 20 differently handicapped people tried and dived for the first time.
The presentation took place in swimming pool in «Юж­ное взморье» centre that is usually used for rehabilitation of professional sport athletes, Olympic medal recipients as well as Russian cosmonauts after spending time in space. Among them are former head of International Space Station, Russian hero, Pavel Vinogradov (Павел Виноградов), former sport minister, hockey player, Olympic gold medallist and Stanley cup winner, Viacheslav Slav Fetisov (Вячеслав »Слава« Фетисов), and multiple Olympic gold medallist in figure skating, Irina Rodnina (Ирина Роднина). 
In Sochi, we had an opportunity to present our small country and »domestic« knowledge, which Russian colleagues accepted openhandedly. Nevertheless, cooperation between IAHD Adriatic and Russia started years ago, when we trained the first group of Russian divers for work with handicapped divers. In 2013 we visited together Star City, where we were able to dive in their hydro-laboratory. Our cooperation has only deepened after successful presentation in Sochi and we will present our work at the biggest Russian fair Integration.Life.Society in April in Moscow where we will also present news and plans for the future.
